My practice uses video, sculpture, painting, and writing to construct layered narratives, developing characters and building worlds through surreal imagery and uneasy atmospheres.
My process begins with my hands, constructing the physical elements that form the worlds my narratives inhabit, combining sculpture and object-making to create immersive environments, and approaching a story as something that is not only told but embodied and experienced. My work is inspired by the language of cinema, particularly horror, as well as ancient folklore and mythologies.
Using discomfort as a tool to shift elements of the known world toward the unknown, I create environments that feel eerie or unsettled. Within these spaces, exploring themes of alienation, vulnerability, and body autonomy. Particularly working within the place of overlap between the erotic and the grotesque, and how the tension between these states can challenge our expectations of the body and its boundaries.
